Bob is founder of Robert C. Gross & Associates, a corporate governance/leadership and board advisory firm headquartered near Salt Lake City, Utah. He has served as president and director of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Utah Chapter, a member of the National NACD Faculty, and as an NACD Leadership Fellow. Bob also mediates complex commercial disputes and litigation matters.
Bob served as a member of Utah Governor Michael Leavitt's Cabinet, where he was the founding Executive Director of the Utah Department of Workforce Services, the first and still only fully-integrated state workforce agency in the nation. He concurrently served as President of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies, later receiving the President's Award for his national leadership of workforce services, welfare, and unemployment insurance reform.
In 2004, Bob served as Senior Advisor in Baghdad to Coalition Provisional Authority Administrator Ambassador L. Paul Bremer and advised the Iraqi Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
Prior to his public service, he served as President and Executive Board Chair of First Interstate Bank of Utah, where he was Executive VP/Retail Banking and Senior VP/General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.
He worked as a senior attorney for the law firm of Jones Waldo, specializing in alternative dispute resolution, government affairs, financial services, and general organizational and board leadership and governance.
In addition to his ESAC board responsibilities, Bob currently serves on the corporate boards of TAB Bank, TAB Banking Holdings, and the Med One Group and the advisory boards of the RMD Management/Utah Stone affiliated companies. He has previously served on numerous public, private, higher education and nonprofit boards of directors.
